60th Anniversary

Saturday, September 28, 2013 we celebrated our 60th Anniversary with an Open House. We hosted a sheep to shawl competition with three teams, “Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend”, “Sheep-Shape” and Weave Me Alone”. Each team was composed of 6 members. Initally all six carded the fibre, and spun. Then one member, the designated weaver, began the weaving. Looms were prewarped for dimensions of 18″ x 80″ plus fringes at each end. Each team selected their own pattern to weave. The fleeces came from Jody McLean of Little Smoky Bluefaced Leicesters and were prewashed before spinning. We had cupcakes and refreshments and a lot of fun!
